A Lull in the Sea (Nagi No Asukara) – This anime is about the people of Shioshishio and Oshiooshi. Long ago all people lived in the sea but people desired to be on the land and abanded the sea for the surface. Consequently, the Sea God took away those people’s way to return, they lost the membrane known as ena, that allows people to live in the ocean. Because of this, the two have now become separated, forgetting that they’re shared past. But that will change when four children of the sea village Shioshishio, must attend school on the surface in Oshiooshi and learn that things aren’t as simple as they once believed.
The anime that has my heart. I don’t know if it’s the characters or the story, maybe the animation, whatever it is it doesn’t change a thing. What I do know for sure is that I absolutely adore this anime. It’s has a unique story and is filled with so much emotion and growth. The characters are amazingly written and just all have this personal struggle that they need to work through. I don’t think I can fully express the beauty that this story has.
If you are looking for a coming of age story, containing plots of love, friendship, and a little work of miracles then I would completely recommend A Lull in the Sea.
