9. Escaping the Dollhouse – After being trapped and isolated for three weeks Charles finally allows the girls to see each other again. When they realized that Charles was preparing for Alison’s arrival and that Mona may be in danger they decide they were going to find her and escape. That night when the power shut off as scheduled the Liars raced out of their rooms; Spencer explained how Charles is, in fact, a DiLaurentis and that everything he holds precious was locked away in the vault, making it their bargaining tool. Entering the game room Spencer explains how there is a trap door in there that leads to the vault. As the generator come back on the sirens go off indicating Charles knew they weren’t in their rooms but when they finally find a passageway the sirens turn off. Spencer showed the others the video and then she started to destroy it and threatened to set everything ablaze until they get Mona back. When the fire begins to grow out of control, so much so that the girls try to stop it, Charles finally pulls the fire alarm which not only starts the sprinklers but also opens the doors. The Liars run out and begin calling out for Mona, they finally find her at the bottom of the hole. After pulling her out they head to the silhouette ladder and try to open the locked door. What they didn’t know was that Alison, Ezra, and Caleb were nearby and just as they were about to head back they heard the fire alarm and found the bunker. They called 9-1-1 and eventually opened the doors, out escaped Hanna, Spencer, Emily, Aria, and Mona. Everyone happily reunited as the police begin to arrive at the scene.
Wow, this episode really did put you through the ringer but watching them actually be able to escape was a sigh of relief. I loved watching this episode in general but actually seeing them escape and watching them reunite with people they love in was just amazing. Plus in a way, they finally outsmarted A, at least enough to be able to escape from the Dollhouse. Dire situations, devious plots, emotional moments, passionate reunions, this premiere had it all, I don’t think there has been an episode yet where I had more emotions. The last few minutes especially were just amazing.
